Wondering questions: (these need no answers, but accept all that is said in an encouraging way)
· I wonder which part of the story you like best?
· I wonder which part of the story is the most important?
· I wonder how the disciples felt during the story?
· I wonder if you are in the story?
To do:
· Say the Lord’s Prayer together:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come, your will be done
On Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us today our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
And deliver us from evil
For yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory
Now and forever. Amen.
OR listen to it sung by Citizen Way
Activity: Choose one of these activities:
1. The Ascension is about Jesus passing his ministry onto his disciples, a bit like passing a baton in a relay race. Set up a track for a relay race and run carrying a baton which is passed on to the next runner once a circuit is completed. You could use anything baton shaped (pool noodle?) or follow this to make your own . Then explain that though Jesus did not actually pass a baton to his disciples, he did tell them very clearly that they were to take up his ministry on earth. His earthly part of the race was complete, but theirs was just starting. You could write on the baton ‘NAME, Jesus needs you to be his disciple.’
2. Homemade match box rockets, baking soda and vinegar rocket
Pray: Pray a blessing together as you finish. Numbers 6:24,25 - I pray that the Lord will bless and protect you, and that he will show you mercy and kindness. Amen.
